‘Anwekety’ (Bush Plum) by Belinda Golder Kngwarreye
In Jukurroa dreaming, winds blew these anwekety seeds all over the ancestral lands. This bore the first fruits of the Utopian lands, which then grew in abundance to provide food for the Anmatyerre people. The dreaming story of the seeds and the ripening of the fruits is evident in Belinda's painting. Belinda loads her paintbrush with harmonious colours and works in gestural motions across the canvas. Belinda comes from a long line of respected artists from the Utopian area of Central Australia. Belinda paints the Bush Plum Dreaming, which is a story that has been passed onto her from her paternal grandmother, Polly Ngale. Her sister Janet Golder sister is also an accomplished artist. Her traditional language spoken is Anmatyerre.
