Bleux took part in a project with St George library and civic centre in QLD to modernise and bring life into the space. As part of a larger project, the Balonne Shire Council was asked to undertake a concept design, aiming to meet the needs of a modern library and community hub facility.
We used a collection of our designs within this project, showcasing a large variety of what we offer at Bleux. This included a bespoke illustration design that was reminiscent of the previous building site. As well as an Indigenous design from our Utopia collection. Creating a fusion of both old and new, bringing together a variety of designs and perspectives to create a unique space.
Our designs were fitted onto optically clear glass and frosted film, to provide both visual interest and a level of privacy for certain rooms. Following BCA guidelines, we incorporated some of our designs from the utopia collection into the safety bands for the space. As well as one of our established designs, flora, a graphic and organic interpretation of our native wattle plant. The purpose of the brief was to emphasise the range of library and community hub spaces, conveying a focus on local history, flexible community meeting rooms, children’s areas, a quiet reading room and discreet staff areas.
